Charles and Anna Drain House in Drain, Ore. The house was built by the town's founders in 1893 and would have cost an estimated $2,600.

Architect George Franklin Barber of Knoxville, Tenn., designed the home. He sold books that contained his plans.

The building, which servies as the administrative offices for the North Douglas School District, was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1976.

The house is one of the best examples of Queen Anne architecture in Douglas County.
